Our elite faculty is dedicated to the education of tomorrow's psychiatrist's through our residency and fellowship programs. The psychiatric educational program includes General, and Child - Adolescent Residency as well as Fellowships in Forensic, Psychosomatic, and Sleep. University Psychiatry faculty specialize in a variety of clinical areas such as adult, child and adolescent, forensic, psychosomatic, psychodynamic, and psychopharmacological research. We believe that tomorrow's psychiatrists should be trained in multiple theoretical approaches and practical clinical skills. This requires a highly specialized faculty and numerous training sites with diverse clinical populations.
University Psychiatry's commitment to mental health research spans nearly two decades and continues to support a vigorous research initiative. It is our mission to seek new ways to treat and prevent psychiatric illness through efficient and safe research which actively involves the public and community. The Department of Psychiatry believes that a diverse population with unique needs may benefit from the study of mental health issues. With a focus on the patient, we are dedicated to understanding the basis of mental illnesses through compassionate care and precision analysis using various investigational tools. Our primary goals are to provide patients with competent and compassionate care and to expand medical knowledge through research both in the lab and in a clinical setting.
