There is lots to do in Shreveport/Bossier!



It kind of feels like a continuous party here in Louisiana with a festival almost every weekend from Spring to Fall! Here is just a little taste of what's cookin' in Northwest Louisiana!

Mudbug Madness -  A four-day street festival in downtown Shreveport is now one of Louisiana’s largest and most popular Cajun festivals, featuring renown Cajun, Zydeco, Blues and Jazz artists, mouth-watering Cajun cuisine, raucous contests, and fun for all ages. http://mudbugmadness.com/

Shreveport Farmer's Market -  For 25 years, the Shreveport Farmers' Market has brought people to downtown Shreveport.  http://www.shreveportfarmersmarket.com 

Red River Revel - The Red River Revel Arts Festival, the largest outdoor arts festival in North Louisiana, attracts 180,000+ people to the Shreveport riverfront.  http://www.redriverrevel.com/The

State Fair of Louisiana - Founded by a group of Shreveport's leading citizens in 1906 whose primary interests were to provide an institution to assist in developing the agricultural and industrial resources of the area and for the betterment of the citizens. http://www.statefairoflouisiana.com/

The Out of Doors

There is much to do outside  in Northwest Louisiana.  With several recreational lakes within an hour's drive (many closer than that), and the Red River running through the heart of the Shreveport/Bossier area.

Northwest Louisiana has a long tradition of hunting and fishing. http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/

Chimp Haven is The National Chimpanzee Sanctuary. They are an independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide lifetime care for chimpanzees who have been retired from medical research, the entertainment industry, or no longer wanted as pets.  http://www.chimphaven.org/


There is a wide range of fitness opportunities from comprehensive gyms (many with discounts for LSU employees) to Cross Fit or utilizing the river front trails for walking, running or biking.

Families and Kids

Sci-Port actively engages people of all ages to explore the worlds of science, space science, technology and math through school and public workshops, teacher development workshops, camp-ins, birthday party programs, after-hours events, guest program presenters and summer camps.  In addition, Sci-Port offers regularly changing IMAX films, exhibitions and public events. http://www.sciport.org/
