Mark Cogburn came to LSU Health Shreveport after serving sixteen years as the Coordinator of Child and Adolescent Services for the Willis-Knighton Health System Institute for Behavioral Medicine. In addition, he has been the Center Mental Health Consultant for the Shreveport Job Corps for eighteen years. Mark is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Appraisal Privileges, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Nurse. Mark is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the department, and specifically works with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program. In the past, he has conducted training and seminars for the Department of Labor on adolescent development, adolescent sexuality and teen substance abuse. In addition, Mark has been a consultant to hospitals and insurance companies in providing systematic methods of monitoring psychiatric outcomes and determining benchmarks. He currently is involved in behavioral research on the topics of adolescent female leadership development, parenting styles and child/adolescent guilt. He lives with his wife and three children on a farm in Texas, and enjoys bass fishing and writing fiction.
