Mark Cogburn a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a lecturer and clinical supervisor in both the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the General Adult Psychiatry Program. Dr. Cogburn has undergraduate degrees in Applied Science and Educational Psychology, and graduate degrees in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Psychology. He has been a member of the Elsevier-Mosby Skills Project Update for the past three years, and has presented nationally and internationally on issues ranging from medical student and nursing student mental health to the negative effects of poor youth coaching on normal child and adolescent development. In addition to being an Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist with Prescription Privileges, he is a licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed professional counselor, and Certified Addictions Registered Nurse-Advanced Practice (CARN-AP). His theoretical perspective is influenced by his experience and intellectual curiosity about the power of parenting styles and youth coaching styles across the lifespan.

Dr. Cogburn is the Director of the Student Mental Health Service at LSUHSC-Shreveport and is a member of the LSUHSC-Shreveport Student Admissions Committee.  Prior to joining LSUHSC-S, Mark served as the Clinical Coordinator of the Willis-Knighton Institute of Behavioral Medicine Child and Adolescent In-Patient Program. Dr. Cogburn is married, has three wonderful children and enjoys playing golf writing children’s stories.
